2009 provided a multitude of changes and challenges for our country and our community. Chamber membership is so vital during these times because networking with your friends and business associates is an important part of your daily life, encouraging you, sharing ideas, and helping grow your business. The Bridgeport Chamber of Commerce is proud of our accomplishments during the past year. Our greatest achievement was the relocation of the Chamber Office and construction of the Bridgeport Visitor Center. The Chamber Office serves as the information hub of the community, making referrals to the appropriate industry, business or organization. As a Visitor Center, the Chamber has the opportunity to introduce visitors and area newcomers to all our community has to offer. Please take time to stop by and visit the Chamber Office and catch a glimpse of the new display for our authentic Concord stagecoach replica.

The Chamber is involved in numerous projects throughout the year that benefit our community. Examples of these include: The Bridgeport PRCA Rodeo, Butterfield Stage Days Festival, The Barnett Shale Skeet Shoot, Coal Miner's Festival, and monthly luncheons. The Chamber also created a new website which allows our members to utilize technology in promoting their business online.

The Chamber of Commerce promotes economic growth in Bridgeport by encouraging our community to "buy local," attracting new business to the city, and partnering with various organizations to plan for the future. I ask all residents to give our local businesses the opportunity to be of service to them. They are dependent, for the most part, upon the local residents for their support. And they in turn contribute to the community by hiring local people, paying real estate and sales taxes, and supporting local organizations and civic projects.

Hats Off to all the folks that make everything we do happen. If you're not a member of the Bridgeport Chamber of Commerce, please join us today. Your investment will pay big dividends in many different ways as we work together to make Bridgeport a better place to live, to work, and to raise a family.
