The Bridgeport Stage is truly a story of a phoenix rising from the ashes! Built in the mid-1940s, the building housed the Arcadia Theater for more than 20 years, serving as a Saturday gathering place for many generations. The Arcadia closed its doors in 1963 and stood vacant and neglected until the early 1990s. A dedicated and ambitious group took on the task of essentially rebuilding it from the ground up with hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of donations and funds from te Bridgeport Economic Development Corporation.
In 2006, the Fine Arts Theater Board donated the facility to the City of Bridgeport so it could again be a place for citizens to gather and be entertained. This versatile venue accommodates concerts, pageants, political rallies, trainings and meetings and is home to the Off 380 Players, Wise County's outstanding community theater group.
The Bridgeport Stage is available for rent at very affordable rates. For more information, call 940-683-3485.
